Local and Cloud documents are handled differently.

Editing and conversion work locally without sign-in. The optional Cloud Beta stores ChatGPT sign-in details and only Markdown you explicitly save. Privacy-first Cloudflare Web Analytics measures aggregate usage and performance.

1. Information processed

We do not collect your Markdown source in the default local workspace. It does not send or store your Markdown source, file name, or downloaded file on an operator-controlled server. A document you explicitly save to the optional Cloud Beta described in section 3 is the exception.

A local Markdown, text, or HTML file you explicitly select or drop is read only inside your current browser. HTML-to-Markdown conversion uses no external service. When you choose Copy all, your text is written to the current device clipboard and is not sent to the operator.

On a supported mobile device, Share .md file opens the operating system share menu. The file is sent only after you choose an app or person in that menu, and the chosen destination then handles it under its own policy.

When you normally paste a web document, MD.SAVE reads the HTML and plain-text representations supplied by the browser only in the current tab and converts them to Markdown. Clipboard content is not sent to the operator, analytics, or an external conversion service and is not separately stored.

External images in preview are blocked by default. Only after you allow one image or its origin for the current document does your browser request it directly from that image server, which may process your IP address and browser information under its own policy. MD.SAVE does not proxy or store the image, and the permission stays only in the current tab's document session. Local, private-network, and credential-bearing image URLs cannot be allowed in preview.

The hosting provider may process technical access records such as IP address, request time, and browser information under its own policies to provide and secure the site.

2. Settings stored on your device

Your theme preference is kept in browser local storage, while your language preference is kept in a first-party cookie. These settings may remain on the current device until you clear the site data in your browser.

On a first visit without a saved preference, MD.SAVE uses only the country code supplied by the hosting environment to show Korean in the Republic of Korea and English elsewhere. MD.SAVE does not separately store that country code.

Up to 20 recent document states are held only in the current tab's memory for undo and redo. Large documents may retain fewer steps to limit memory use. The states are not written to local storage and disappear when the tab is closed or reloaded.

Recent conversion details, workspace and reading settings, document-check results, and external-image permissions also stay only in current-tab memory and are not written to local storage. Image permissions reset when you start a new file, template, or Quick Send document.

3. Optional Cloud Beta

When you choose the Cloud library, authentication uses Sign in with ChatGPT provided by ChatGPT Sites. MD.SAVE processes the stable user identifier, email address, and display name supplied by Sites to identify and display the account and provide support. MD.SAVE does not store a separate password or authentication token.

Signing in does not upload a local document. A document is sent only after you choose Save a copy to Cloud in the editor and acknowledge the first-save notice. The Markdown body is stored in ChatGPT Sites R2. D1 stores metadata including the user, filename, title, folder, tags, size, timestamps, revision, and Trash state. R2 object names do not contain the original filename or email.

Default limits are 500 MB per account, 50 MB per file, 2,000 documents, 200 folders, and 500 tags. The storage limit is not an editing limit. A document above 2 MB or with unusually complex structure remains available for storage, search, download, and deletion but is not loaded into editor or preview state.

Cloud documents are retained until you permanently delete them from Trash or complete Delete all Cloud data. If Beta ends or the retention policy changes, notice will be given in advance where reasonably possible. Do not use Cloud Beta as the only backup of an important document; use individual downloads or the full TAR export to retain local copies. Full export and deletion are available from the Cloud library.

4. Optional Chrome extension

The separately provided MD.SAVE Chrome extension reads a webpage selection only when you explicitly act through its menu, toolbar button, or shortcut. It reads the readable body of the current page only when you press the separate page-body action in the toolbar popup. Markdown conversion and direct download happen inside the browser and are not sent to the operator's server.

For Chrome Web Store disclosure, the requested selection or page body is “website content” handled locally by the extension. The extension does not automatically or continuously read pages or collect browsing history or background activity.

When you choose Edit in MD.SAVE, up to 2 MB of converted Markdown and a suggested file name are temporarily held in Chrome session storage. Only a random identifier—not your content—is added to the MD.SAVE URL. The temporary content is deleted immediately after import. After ten minutes it can no longer be imported and is removed on the next extension action or when the browser closes. The ask-before-saving preference remains only in that browser's local extension storage.

The extension uses the requested website content only to provide the single feature described above. The operator does not sell it or use or transfer it for personalized advertising, credit assessment, or any unrelated purpose. Because it is not collected on an operator server, neither the operator nor another person can read the source. This use complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy's Limited Use requirements.

5. Third parties and external checking

The operator does not call an external spelling or grammar API. The optional document check reviews heading structure, links, images, and selected writing rules inside your browser. Cloud Beta uses only ChatGPT Sites authentication, D1, and R2, with no separate external auth, database, or storage service.

6. Ads and analytics

The current version has no ads. It uses cookie-free Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate page usage and loading performance. The service reports dimensions such as page path, referrer, country, device and browser type, and performance timings without tracking visitors across different websites.

Your Markdown source, file name, clipboard content, and downloaded file are not sent as analytics data. Query strings and custom download events are not collected. See the Cloudflare Web Analytics overview for more information.

7. Deletion

Clear the editor or close the browser tab to remove your current input. Copying something else replaces clipboard content. Theme and language settings can be removed through your browser's site-data controls. Temporary Chrome extension imports are removed after a completed import or when the browser closes; removing the extension also removes its local settings.

In the Cloud library you can move a document to Trash, restore it, or delete it permanently. Delete all Cloud data removes document bodies and metadata, folders, and tags. If a large deletion is interrupted, a later request resumes it, and the account may remain restricted until deletion completes.
